One of my most memorable roles was at my integrative and holistic clinic in New York, where I developed deep, lasting relationships with both clients and patients. In this environment, I worked closely with patients recovering from surgery, managing palliative care for cancer patients, and improving the quality of life for senior animals, which was especially fulfilling.
A particularly challenging chapter in my career occurred while working in Shanghai, China. At that time, we faced significant limitations with available medications and diagnostic tools. The delayed turnaround times for bacterial culture and antimicrobial sensitivity testing were particularly frustrating. In response, I initiated the creation of the first in-house veterinary small animal culture lab in Shanghai with the help of a professor from the University of Melbourne. This innovation greatly improved our ability to provide faster, more effective treatments, shortening recovery times and enhancing patient care.
I am most proud of receiving the Westralian Drug Company Prize for achieving the highest combined final grade in both the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) degrees, as well as being honored with the Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence.
During my Master’s degree, I had the privilege of co-authoring the publication:
“Spread of Canine Influenza A (H3N2) Virus, United States”, which was published in Emerging Infectious Diseases in 2017. This collaborative research was valuable in understanding the transmission dynamics of canine influenza and its implications for veterinary public health.
In my approach to Physiotherapy Rehabilitation, I treat every pet as an individual, recognizing that each one has unique needs, personalities, and challenges. My goal is to create tailored, customized treatment plans for each patient, with a focus on alleviating pain, accelerating recovery, and enhancing overall quality of life.
I believe that all pets, regardless of age or condition, can benefit from rehabilitation. This is particularly important after injuries, for maintenance in breeds predisposed to specific congenital or hereditary conditions (such as patella luxation or spinal diseases), or for improving the quality of life in pets suffering from conditions like cancer, arthritis or obesity.
Throughout my career, I have frequently had to think outside the box to ensure my patients receive the best possible care, which has profoundly shaped my approach to veterinary medicine. I have adopted a holistic and integrative approach to treatment, focusing on tailored individualized care for each patient.
