She was also the resident zoo and wildlife veterinarian at the Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park for two-and-a-half years.

Career Highlights

Dr Maguire’s expertise is in great demand as one of the few exotic companion mammal specialists globally. She is a prolific author of numerous chapters in exotic medical textbooks, case reports, and research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Some of these include the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine, several zoological journals, and most recently, the Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice.

As a diplomate of both the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners certified in Exotic Companion Mammal Practice and The American College of Exotic Pet Medicine, and a strong advocate for scientific and evidence-based medicine, Dr Maguire single-handedly raised the standard of exotic pet medicine in Singapore with her establishment of Beecroft Exotics in 2019.

Her pioneering achievements include spearheading diagnostic procedures such as blood tests and imaging studies (x-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI studies) for exotic patients.

As part of her goal of raising standards in exotic veterinary care, Dr Maguire is a member and often invited speaker for the Singapore Vet Association on subjects regarding exotic medicine. On top of this, she has presented at national and international exotic pet conferences in South Korea and the United States.

She is also a member and an exam vice chair representative for the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners for Exotic Companion Mammals.

Dr Maguire advocates for equitable and compassionate care for all animals, and she firmly believes that the continuance of high-quality education is the keystone for ensuring better care of animals’ health and welfare.

The same compassion extends to her respect and empathy for pet parents and co-workers.

Dr Maguire ardently believes in authentic inspiration and influence. Her goal is to lead by example and empower her team to achieve the same standards she has set for herself.

As the human resource leader for Beecroft Animal Specialist and Emergency Hospital, Dr Maguire is adept at identifying an individual’s strengths, maximising it, and passionately encouraging her team to be positive and to try their best.
